March 30 food drive targets vacationers, snowbirds

All you snowbirds and vacationers checking out on Saturday, March 30, please bring us your UNopened food! Hours: 9 to 11 a.m.

This time we’ll have TWO locations on Indian Rocks Beach.  Please help get the word out!

We’ll accept unopened perishables and nonperishables.* The food will go directly to Lifeline Pantry at St. Jerome, just over the bridge in Largo.

Once again, I’ll be at the Reef Club condo building, in the parking area. Address: 1000 Gulf Blvd. (on the beach side)

Our second spot will be staffed by the wonderful Mission and Social Action committee at Church of the Isles, United Church of Christ. Address: 200 25th Ave. N., Indian Rocks Beach. They’ll be set up in the parking area near the church’s Beach Community Thrift Store, which will open at 10 a.m. Come to give food and find bargains galore!

Volunteers will be at both spots to collect your unopened perishables and nonperishables.

*Unopened perishables can include packages that are open as long as the product is wrapped or has a shell, for instance eggs, single-slice wrapped cheese, fruit with skins, etc.

The photo above is from our Feb. 24 food drive, with the Reef Club in the background. Read more about that here. And here’s a list of frequently asked questions about Vacation Donations food drives.

If you’re interested in volunteering, either at the drives or to help publicize them, let us know by writing to [email protected]. THANK YOU!
